Abstract: 

A spectrophotometric study concerning the interactoin between iodine and bromine with TETRABUTYLAMMONIUM IODIDE (TBAI), tetrabutyl- ammonium bromide (TBABr) and cryptand 222 (C222) has been performed in dichloromethane solution at 25°C. The results are indicative of the formation of TBA+X3 - and C222X+X3 - through equilibrium and formation of C222X+X- through nonequilibrium reactions. The stability constants of the equilibrium reactions were evaluated from the computer fitting of the absorbance-mole ratio data. It was found that iodine complexes were more stable than bromine ones. Comparision of the spectra of I2-TBAI with the I2-C222 mixtures indicates that the isosbestic points of the two systems are not identical. A similar behavior is observed for the corresponding bromine spectra. Comparision of the spectra of iodine complexes with those of bromine also indicates that in the spectra of iodine complexes 1) the wavelength of the isosbestic point is less than λmax of the free iodine and 2) addition of C222 or TBAI decreases the absorption intensity at λmax of iodine. However, in each case the reverse is observed for the spectra of bromine complexes. The possible reasons for the observed differences in various spectra are explained.

Abstract: 

The Complex formation reaction between iodine with TETRABUTYLAMMONIUM halides (TBAX) has been studied spectrophotometrically in chloroform solution at 25ºC. Various aspects of the spectra of iodine in the presence of various concentrations of different TETRABUTYLAMMONIUM halides have been discussed in terms of electronic specifications of iodine and halides. In the case of TETRABUTYLAMMONIUM IODIDE and at high concentrations of iodine, both 1:1 (I3-) and 2:1 (I5-) complexes have been formed. Formation constants of charge transfer complexes were evaluated from the computer fitting of the absorbance-mole ratio data and found to vary in the order: TBAI>TBABr>TBACl>TBAF.

BACKGROUND: BENZIMIDAZOLE DERIVATIVES EXHIBIT SIGNIFICANT ACTIVITY AGAINST SEVERAL VIRUSES SUCH AS HIV [1], HERPES (HSV-1) [2], RNA [3], INFLUENZA [4], AND HUMAN CYTOMEGALOVIRUS (HCMV) [1]. THE WIDESPREAD INTEREST IN BENZIMIDAZOLE-CONTAINING STRUCTURES HAS PROMOTED EXTENSIVE STUDIES FOR THEIR SYNTHESIS. WHILE MANY STRATEGIES ARE AVAILABLE FOR BENZIMIDAZOLE SYNTHESIS, THERE ARE TWO GENERAL METHODS FOR THE SYNTHESIS OF 2-SUBSTITUTED BENZIMIDAZOLES. ONE IS THE COUPLING OF PHENYLENEDIAMINES AND CARBOXYLIC ACIDS OR THEIR DERIVATIVES (NITRILES, IMIDATES, OR ORTHOESTERS), WHICH OFTEN REQUIRES STRONG ACIDIC CONDITIONS, AND SOMETIMES COMBINES WITH VERY HIGH TEMPERATURES OR MICROWAVE IRRADIATION. Abstract: 

Spinel magnesium Cobaltite (MgCo2O4) nanoparticles with a crystalline size in the range of ∼ 16 nm were prepared by a simple co-precipitation technique with NaOH as a precipitant. The formation of spinel MgCo2O4 phase was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern. Scanning electron microscope (SEM) images showed that aggregated nanoplates. The electrochemical performance of modified MgCo2O4 electrodes was investigated with 2M of TETRABUTYLAMMONIUM perchlorate (TBA) electrolyte. The cyclic voltammetry (CV) results revealed that the MgCo2O4 electrode reached the highest specific capacitance of 390 ° F/g at a scan rate of 5mV/s. The excellent electrochemical performance was absorbed due to the electrochemical faradaic redox reactions related to the intercalation/de-intercalation of the TETRABUTYLAMMONIUM cation (TBA+) and MgCo2O4 lattice, and brings an additional pseudocapacitive contribution. The present work proves that the prepared magnesium cobaltite can serve as advanced electrode material for next generation organic electrolyte supercapacitors.

SYNTHETIC STRATEGIES FOR THE DIHYDROPYRIMIDINONE NUCLEUS INVOLVE BOTH ONE-POT AND MULTISTEP APPROACHES. AT PRESENT, SEVERAL GENERAL METHODS ARE KNOWN FOR THE PREPARATION OF DIHYDROPYRIMIDINONES, USING VARIOUS LEWIS AND PROTIC ACIDS [4, 5].METHODS: A MIXTURE OF ETHYL ACETOACETATE OR ACETYLACETONE, ALDEHYDE, UREA OR THIOUREA, TETRABUTYLAMMONIUM HYDROGEN SULFATE AS CATALYST IN CH3CN WAS HEATED AND STIRRED UNDER REFLUX AND IRRADIATED IN A MICROWAVE OVEN AT HIGH POWER LEVEL.Y.
